In 2012, San Diego International Airport sent a call out to artists to enter submissions for a juried exhibition on the theme Myth of the West. I, as a fiber artist, focused on the transformation of coiled basketry once created for form, function, and utilitarian containers into an evolutionary explosion of change. This makeover takes the traditional method of coiling from vessels of necessity to a declaration of style, a fashionable statement of handbags going down the catwalk. This exhibition showed in San Diego National Airport from 2013-2014.
